Point
Park, located on the western shore of Grand Lake at the point where
the channel joins from Shadow Mountain Reservoir, has fabulous views
of the surrounding mountains and Grand Lake. Handicap access exists
for fishing and a boat dock. It is a popular site for weddings, jointly
owned by the Town and the US Forest Service.

You can reserve Point Park free of charge by contacting Town staff.

The Town Park Pavilion. located
on the east side of the main Town Park at Grand Avenue and Pitkin
Street, may be rented for private activities at a fee of $20.00
per hour. |
The
Town Park Gazebo and the Lakefront Park Pavilions may also be reserved
at no cost for smaller functions.
Theater
and Boardroom
Indoor
facilities include a boardroom in Town Hall and a theater/community
house, both with kitchen facilities. The Theater has a capacity of approximately
200 and may be rented or reserved by contacting Town Hall.
Cemetery
The
Grand Lake Cemetery is the only active community cemetery located within
a National Park. It is located just inside the Rocky Mountain National
Park boundary at U.S. Hwy 34 and County Road 49. The cemetery is operated
and maintained by the Town. Contact the Town Clerk for information.
Down
Payment Assistance Program
Affordable
housing fees collected with building permits provides the funding for
this program. Funds are used for first time home buyers with points
awarded for living or working in the town in addition to need.

Licensing
Animal
Licensing
Every
dog, 6 months or older, kept in Grand County must be licensed and vaccinated
for rabies by a licensed veterinarian. License fees are $5.00 for spayed/neutered
animal and $10.00 for non-spayed/non-neutered animal. License tags may
be obtained at Town Hall
Business
Licensing
Any
person doing business within the Town limits is required to obtain a
license from the Town. It shall be unlawful for any person to operate
or carry on a business under the license of another. Ninety-five percent
(95%) of the license fees collected are used to market Grand Lake as
a visitor destination, the other 5% is used for administrative costs.
There
are four categories of licenses: Fixed Business, Non-Fixed Business,
Fixed-Liquor Business and Special Event.
Fixed
Business Licenses are required for in-town businesses with a permanent
location.
Non-Fixed
Business Licenses are required for Home Occupations and those businesses
without a set physical location within the Town.
Fixed-Liquor
Business Licenses are required for those fixed businesses that
also have a liquor license.
Special
Event Licenses can be obtained for three days for a special event
such as a craft fair.

Sales
Tax Licensing
Every
business selling at retail within the Town limits must obtain a Sales
Tax License from the Town in addition to a State of Colorado Sales Tax
License. Sales taxes must be remitted through the Colorado Department

Finance
Sales Tax Data
Sales
tax revenue is an indicator of the economic health of the community.
It fluctuates with the number of visitors shopping, eating and lodging
in Town. Monthly sales tax revenue for July 2004 was $201,236, up 8.38%
from July 2003.
The
Town levies a 4% Sales and Use Tax on tangible goods. The 2003 revenues
to the Town General Fund were $899,613 in Sales Tax and $110,347 in
Use Tax on building materials and motor vehicles.
Water
Rates and Fees
Water
billings are sent to our customers quarterly, in January, April, July
and October. Please contact the Town Treasurer, for more information
at Town Hall.
Water
charges are based on a minimum fee per quarter for 27,000 gallons or
less of usage. If usage exceeds 27,000 gallons, an additional charge
per 1,000 gallons used is assessed. Charges are listed below:
In Town Water Rates:

Maintains
wells, storage, treatment and water mains. Service lines (between the
water main and the home/business) are the responsibility of the property
owner.

Recycling
Valley
Recycling has bins at its Grand Lake site, located at the Town Shop,
behind the Car Wash on Center Drive (across from the Post Office). They
accept glass, aluminum, newspaper, office paper, magazines, metal, cardboard

Recycling is located near Granby at 64600 US Hwy 40. For a recycling

Department of Revenue PTC Rebate:
This
program offers Property Tax/Rent/Heat rebates to full-year Colorado
residents age 65 or older (and to surviving spouses age 58 or older
and those who were disabled regardless of age during the entire year).
Anyone applying must provide proof of "lawful presence"
