Marijuana Licensing Requirements

The Town of Grand Lake Board of Trustees passed Ordinance 06-2023 (see ordinance below for detail) regarding Regulated Marijuana Businesses on June 12, 2023. The Town of Grand Lake establishes a two-phase License application process, the Lottery Phase Application, and the License Phase Application.

Background

On November 8, 2022, the voters of Grand Lake approved Town of Grand Lake Question 2C, “allow[ing] the operation of marijuana businesses in the town and amending the municipal code by the addition of new sections permitting, subject to regulations to be adopted by ordinances of the town, certain activities relating to marijuana, and by so doing repeal the Article 5 of Chapter 7 and Article 11 of Chapter 7, or other section of the Grand Lake Municipal Code, to the extent they are inconsistent with such authorization[.]” The Town has worked over the past ten months to develop regulations governing the licensing and operation of retail and medical marijuana dispensaries in addition to other associated marijuana regulations. Lottery Phase Application

The Town of Grand Lake has an application process with random selection (lottery).  One license is available, within the Commercial Zoning District or a planned development district; but shall not be permitted on any parcel east of Broadway Street (refer to the zoning map). The lottery application can be found below.  The lottery application process will be open for 60 days, starting Wednesday, September 6, 2023.

***The last day to turn in the Lottery Phase Application to the Town Clerk is 4 p.m. (MST), Monday, November 6, 2023.*** No applications will be accepted after this deadline.
