FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Grand Lake, CO — The Grand Lake Creative District (GLCD) and the Town of Grand Lake announce that a limited number of affordable live/work units are still available for rent at the new Grand Lake Space to Create. With the project’s highly anticipated residential units preparing to welcome the first creators soon, artists and makers are encouraged to apply ASAP to secure one of the remaining spots.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity for artists and creators to weave themselves into the fabric of our beautiful mountain community,” says Steve Kudron, Town Manager of Grand Lake. “By offering affordable, dual-purpose live and work units, we are doing more than providing housing – we are investing deeply in these individuals to ensure they have the resources, community support and space they need to thrive.”
At the heart of the Space to Create is the Grand Spirit Makerspace, which opened its doors to the public in May. Managed by the Rocky Mountain Folk School, this fully equipped communal hub serves as a central gathering point for local and visiting makers, hosting public art classes and hands-on workshops. For incoming Space to Create residents, the new Makerspace offers a built-in platform for artists to expand their creative business.
“Our artists can use this shared facility to teach classes, host public workshops and share their unique crafts directly with the community,” explains DiAnn Butler, Executive Director of GLCD and Grand County Economic Development Coordinator. “This is a win-win for our artists who can use the Makerspace to create an additional revenue stream while also deeply integrating into Grand Lake’s vibrant cultural scene.”
How to Apply
Due to high demand and a limited remaining inventory, interested artists are urged to submit their applications as soon as possible. Applications will be reviewed by a local housing committee focused on selecting individuals who will actively contribute to Grand Lake’s vibrant cultural scene.
