What is Space to Create & the Grand Spirit Makerspace?

In September 2025 the Town of Grand Lake officially broke ground on the Space to Create Grand Lake facility launching an exciting new chapter for our creative community. The idea began in 2019 and after receiving 350+ survey responses (including more than 150 from Grand Lake residents) has grown into a community-driven development designed to give artists, makers and creative locals of all kinds an affordable space to live, work and create. The facility features nine live/work rental units (housing + storefronts) and a 3,000-square-foot makerspace to anchor the Grand Lake Creative District. Grand Lake is the third Space to Create community to be developed in Colorado.

Live, Work & Create in Grand Lake

Space to Create Grand Lake is designed with accessibility, inclusion and community at its core. The development will feature nine affordable live/work rental units with storefronts, offering creatives and local workers an opportunity to live affordably while contributing to Grand Lake’s creative economy.

Community Hub For Creativity

From artists and students to entrepreneurs and lifelong learners, the Grand Spirit Makerspace will benefit the whole community. This isn’t just a building--it’s a launchpad for creativity, workforce skills, innovation, and connection. The Grand Spirit Makerspace will be a year-round hub where creativity meets opportunity, ideas turn into real projects, locals and visitors learn side by side and Grand Lake’s creative economy thrives.
